I guess the OP wants to know whether s/he has used "unless" correctly.

I'm sure that's a fine guess but let's wait until the OP responds.

Matthew, you have been asked before not to say 'I guess'.

When a moderator has asked a poster for clarification, please have the courtesy to wait for the reply before butting in with a guess.

Additionally, you have failed to state you are not a teacher.

Last time 5jj told me not to guess an answer, but this time I just guessed the OP's intention. Is it not allowed either?

I think the "so" is unnecessary.

Soup Chicken, Barb_D said that a new thread should be started so as to avoid "hijacking" if a member discovers a problem in a thread which is irrelevant to the original post (or words to that effect), and your discovery seems so. 5jj said there are hundreds of unwritten rules, we have to learn and remember step by step.

Matthew, mistakes encountered in a thread are not examples of "hijacking". Mistakes are corrected in the actual thread so that learners will not get confused.

Last time I suspected a word used by the OP was a mistake, but Barb_D said it was hijacking. Perhaps I become too sensitive now.
