I have a question about a word, I was making a transcript, but didn't get the right spelling / meaning of one word. Ferority of fearority... maybe with a "V". I think it has something to do with "fear".

This is the sentence:
"And social structures which create relationships based on inequality and ferority are inflicted with the greatest deal of social pain and neuroses".

All help is welcome...

Thanks

I imagine the word is INFERIORITY - the noun which comes from the adjective inferior. This would fit with the rest of the sentence, as there are parts of the world where "inequality and inferiority" are closely linked in society.

Word with a 'v' and goes with inequality - favoritism?

I agree that "inferiority" makes complete sense.

How do you 'create relationships based on inferiority'?

Quite easily, in a hierarchical society.

Hierarchy based on inferiority? Why talk about inferiority and not superiority?
Superiority or inferiority in what respect? Social status? Wealth? Intelligence?
It's too general don't you think?

If you read the OP's sentence, with the word "inferiority", you can see it is saying that social structures based on inequality and inferiority are inflicted with social pain and neuroses. This seems quite logical to me, it is true, however, that it could be better written.

I think it is inferiority. I've read many novels which are based on this idea you've mentioned. So I guess the word is inferiority.

Why use inferiority in particular and not superiority? In other words, it is discrimination. Discrimation comes in many types - discrimination on the basis of race, sex, status, affiliation, etc. Thus, the phrase 'on the basis of inferiority' seems too general and vague to me.
