Well, that's mostly right. But in the sentence "It is its" the word "its" doesn't have anything to modify.It is -impersonal "it" folowed by the verb "be".
It`s mine = It is mine.
"Its" is a possessive pronoun or adjective.
I`ve got a new PC. Its display is modern. - possessive adjective.
