Dear teachers,

Am I right with the following interpretation?

  • Whom do you live with?
  • I have a friend named Lisa, whom I have copied in this message.

To me, 'whom' is not correct in the first but possible in the second.

Thank you

It is correct in both. In the first it is the object of the preposition "with". In the second, it is the object of the verb "copied".

I would have used 'who' in all of them.

In informal English, many do. But it is correct to use the objective form "whom" when it functions as an object.
