Present Future and Present Future Continuous

I'm confused about these two tenses (future and future continuous), what is the difference between them? For example: I will be waiting for him when his plane arrives tonight. (Future continuous)

For the sentence above, why don't we just use "I will wait for him when his plane arrives tonight." (Future)

I've never heard of 'present future' or 'present future continuous'. Where did you read about them?

Yes, Harum30, it can be rather confusing at first. Generally, doing tests or quizes develops a better understanding of how grammar works. You can try this one or google yourself for more. You might also find this grammar book quite helpful (p195 #220 to be more specific)

ps. And, be warned! just to make it a bit more challenging, some teachers/grammarians prefer 'progressive' to 'continuous' meaning the same.

Would you just use 'waited' instead of 'was waiting' in the following?
'I was waiting for him when his plane arrived.'

I'm just confused how to explain it to my students, maybe I have to give them more examples and quiz just like what you suggested to me, thank you so much

It is in the past tense, so it happened in the past.

I am not a teacher.

I'm still studying in English Education Department, but I have a part-time job as a private teacher so that's why I choose student or learner in my profile.
