Dear teachers,

Can you please check if the following sentence is correct?

I have never been there, and yet it feels like the call of home to me.

If not, could you please rewrite it so it sounds natural?

Thank you!

It is not a quotation, it is my translation from Czech into English. Is it completely wrong?

I would simply say 'but it feels like home to me'.

Not a teacher.

It's probably a reasonable translation.

I would simply say 'but it feels like home to me'.

Not a teacher.

But if she's never been there, the only thing she can be feeling is the call of home. But the original sentence doesn't sound right to me (unless she has previiously mentioned a strange feeling of wanting to go somewhere: that's the call of home.

But if she hasn't mentioned such a feeling (yet) I'd make it 'I have never been there, and yet I'm getting a feeling as though it were calling me home.'

Many thanks to you all. That's a very interesting point, BobK. I think I will use your sentence.
