Hi everyone!
I live in non-English speaking country. I've started relatively active learning when I was 28 and studying the language for a few years and two of them with teacher two days a week and these two years became the most active phase of the learning. Also, I read news in English on daily basis, try to watch TED talks and TED Ed lessons everyday and sometimes UK and US series. Despite the fact that I still find difficult to express my thoughts and I still have a lot of problems with grammar, fluency, speed reading, vocabulary and etc, one problem is just driving me crazy - I'm constantly making some silly mistakes such as "she know", "they was" and etc. Especially it is noticeable, when I write something quite quickly and don't have any time for correction and when I speak. However the teacher point out, that when I told her what an audio book was about, my speech is better. This fact makes me and my teacher really upset . Could anyone advise how should I tackle this issue?

First, say:

I live in A non-English speaking country.

For the second sentence, I am not sure if you started studying English when you were 28 or if you are 28 now.

You have been working with a tutor for two days a week for two years. Is that right?

I am not sure what you mean when you say you "retell" audio books.

The second sentence is a mess, but I get:

I started studying English when I was 28.

The rest of it is a jumble. You need to write shorter, simpler sentences. (I am surprised your tutor hasn't told you that.)

I meant when I was 28.

Yes.

Yes, I you can see now (the underlined part does not make sense)

I mean that I told her what [strike]was[/strike] the audio book was about.

Thank you for the corrections - [strike]all[/strike] they are all really useful.

Note my corrections above. It is very important to follow these rules of written English at all times:

- Start every sentence with a capital letter.
- End every sentence with one, appropriate punctuation mark.
- Always capitalise the word "I".

Out of curiosity, is your teacher a native English speaker, or is she Russian or Romanian?

I'm preparing for the Academic Module of IELTS. So, it is important for me now do not to write any short sentences, hence I'm trying to do so...

Please notice the difference between your sentences and mine. (I didn't change your first sentence, because it's fine.)

JuWu, we have a lot of work to do. It might help if you read some of Bassim's stories (in the Editing and Writing subforum) and note how they were edited by me and Teechar. The reason I say it might is because I am not sure. However, Bassim has achieved a level of proficiency beyond that of the average ESL learner here. Even so, he needs help with certain things. It might be beneficial to read his work and then look at the corrections/suggestions we give him.

Three things.

1. When we make a one word sentence we capitalize that one word. Example:

April;: Did you wash the dishes last night?
May: Yes.
April: Did you sweep and mop the floor?
May: No.

2. We MAKE mistakes. Everybody MAKES mistakes. But I MAKE different kinds of mistakes than you do.

3. You tell your teacher what the audio books are about.. Another way of putting it is that you explain them to her.

I really appreciate [STRIKE]you for[/STRIKE] all your advice [STRIKE]advises[/STRIKE]. I'll do my best.

See my corrections above. I wish I knew an English equivalent for the French bonne continuation and bon courage, which mean something like "good luck as you progress in your endeavors" and "chin up", though the latter is strictly BrE. :)
