Hello.
This rule is taken from the book ''English Pronunciation in Use'' by
Mark Hancock. Could you please write examples in the places where I pu question marks?

/kɑː /
= in Br and/kɑː r/in US. In Br, 'r' is pronounced onlywhen it is followed by a vowel, (?) while in US it is also pronouncedbefore consonants (?) and at the end of a word (teacher).

Item 1 (R followed by vowel sound): Car and Driver magazine.
Car N-22.
It's the following sound, not letter, that guides this.

Item 2 (R followed by consonant sound): Car door.
(final R) Car Q-14.
That really raises the bar!

Although most British people have non-rhotic accents and most Americans have rhotic ones, large numbers of both groups are in the opposite camp. Bernie Sanders, who has been widely heard lately, has a decidedly non-rhotic accent.

Sorry, but I don't understand. I am trying to find the words in your post in which 'r' is followed by a vowel and in American English 'r' before a consonant.
