Nurse Johnson acted smarter, which is usual/usually.

Are both usual and usually correct as the predicative?

Thank you in advance.

"usual" is correct but it's an unnatural sentence.

Many thanks, bhai.

I was reading Bill Bryson's A SHORT HISTORY OF NEARLY EVERYTHING when I came across this construction (I've never seen it before and feel it strange):
When they failed to sink, which was usually, Navy gunners riddled them with bullets to
let water in (and, of course, plutonium, uranium, and strontium out).

That's different, it's "when" that makes the difference. Do you understand now?

Once again, effort wasted because insufficient context was given at the start.
