May's left eye is just recovered from infection. She gets to put on sunglasses to protect her eye from bright light.

1. Is the above writing correct?

2. Do sunglasses have to be in plural?

3. For protect her eye from bright light, can I rephrase to protect her eye away from bright light?

4. To describe May has to put on sunglasses, can I rephrases to May has to be on sunglasses?
