Is the below sentence grammatically correct or at least acceptable?

"I went on a job search as well as studied English."

Yes, it's grammatically correct. But it's not a colloquial phrase in this context.
I assume you're talking about going to England for a month, say, and you're describing what you did there.

A: "What did you do in England?"
B: "I went on a job search as well as studied English." Not very good
B: "I looked for work as well as studied English." Better.

A "job search" generally is used for something more concentrated, that you might do one morning, or over a few days. You generally don't have time to learn a language while doing a job search.
