I have a question.

"They went back and forth taking turns napping."

In this sentence, I think 'in' was deleted to become casual.
The original sentence is 'in taking turns napping', isn't it?
Because preposition 'in' has meaning 'as' or 'simultaneously'.
I just want to analyse this sentence.

No, 'in' isn't necessary here. It' not colloquial, nor is it more formal.
"They took turns driving." You could possibly write, "They took turns in driving." But it adds nothing, and it's not a common way of saying it.
It means "With regard to driving, they took turns."
