Plz read the below sentence.

_____ this month only, you will have the opportunity to register for

an additional 12-month contract at a cost of just $300.

a. In b. For

The answer is "For". "In" is awkward in that sentence?

Thank you in advance.

Yes, 'in' is awkward; it means inside this month. 'For this month' means for the duration of this month.

You have, but 'This month only' sounds fine to my half-timbered ears. :)
I'm confused: Was 'This month only' even an option? It also works for me, as does its extended form (b) 'For this month only.' The other option, (a) 'In this month only', doesn't work at all for me.

No, it wasn't one of the options listed, but still my preference. I agree that "for" works, and "in" does not. However, the post listed only a and b. If c or d were also choices and one of them was [nothing], that would be my preference -- though it makes it a poor question with two possible correct answers.
