[Grammar] It is nearer to our

1) It is nearer to our house.
2) It is close to our house.

Are both the above sentences ok and do they convey the same meaning?

Yes but I am not very sure. I understand that we use " closer" when we compare it with something and "close " is used to show the location of something.

For eg: My house is close to your house.

I could not make sentence with "closer". ( Should I use : make or made here, I guess " made" since could is past tence)
