[Vocabulary] Consultants vs Consultancy

Dear all,

I have two questions regarding choice of words for a company offering both therapy services and consultation on communication disorders.

Please see these two examples below:

1) ABC Therapy and Communication Consultants Limited

2) ABC Therapy and Communication Consultancy Limited

Q1) should I use consultants or consultancy? I see both on the net.

Q2) does it sounds right to use "therapy" in the above examples. Or should I use the word"therapeutic" instead?

The first one is a better choice. Use "therapy". If you use "therapeutic" you'll have to think up a noun to go with it.

Why is the first one a better choice?

A consultant is somebody whose advice you would seek on important matters. Also, people are more familiar with "consultant" than they are the other one.

Thanks! So do you recommend using consultants limited or consultant limited for a formal company name?

With regard to your earlier advice on using the adj" therapeutic" please see if you think the name below is appropriate:

"Therapeutic Learning" is, to me, an odd phrase. I think you could leave "Therapeutic" out of the title, thus:

People who know what a consultant is would know what consultancy is, surely.
I think "consultancy" is more consistent with "therapy", both being services.
I prefer "therapy"(what therapy?) to come after "communication".

I think the former is a company instead of a service.

Consultancy means more than just a company.

"A service and a company" is not consistent either.

Do you mean to say you prefer this version?

ABC Communication and Therapy Consultancy Limited

(the term "limited" is needed under the relevant company law in the place where I reside)

There was another comment on that fact that therapy(service) and communication consultancy(company) is not consistent in the proposed name "ABC Therapy and Communication Consultancy Limited", please comment on this proposed name:

ABC Communication Therapy and Consultancy Limited

(the suggestion on using consultants instead of consultancy is well-noted, though I am still confused)

Please put the quoted material first and your response to it afterwsrds.

Yes. It provides both communication therapy and consultation and so I was asking if the proposed name(s) were appropriate.

I may tell you all explicitly that the proposed limited company provides both speech therapy AND communication consulting services to caregiver/service providers with family members/clients with communication disorders.

After considering some comments these two days, I come up with this revised version for your comment:

"Speech Therapy" is definitely better than just therapy since it is more specific about the service to be provided.

If I were to use the services for the company name, it would be:

ABC Speech Therapy and Communication Consulting Services Limited
ABC Speech Therapy and Communication Consultancy Limited

If I were to use the service providers for the company name, it would be:
ABC Speech Therapists and Communication Consultants Limited

I would not mix the two up.
