the meaning of "apt"

Dear all,

I'd like to aske the meaning of apt in the sentence below.

"The mirror image is particularly apt during the teenage years. At this age, a girl may spend hours in front of a full-length mirror, searching her reflection for tiny imperfections...."

Before this part, the author discuss that a mother and a daughter tend to look at each other as if they see their own reflections in the mirror.

In the context, "apt" seems to mean "important", but there is no such definition in my dictionary.

apt means appropriate

The imagery of the mirror is particularly appropriate because teenage girls spend a lot of time looking into a literal mirror.
