"He took out SOMETHING on me."

Does <SOMETHING> have to be a humanly feeling, like anger, frustration, etc? Could it be something more concrete, like a bad day:

"He took out his bad day on me."

I do know that "He took out his anger on me." is valid English.

We can take something out on somebody or take out something on somebody. With pronouns, only the first order is possible - he took it out on me

"He took out his bad day on me"
. is possible, though the expression is more common with feelings.
