Hello
Would you please tell me what is the difference between the first three sentences with the fourth one?

- The cost of air freighting the goods is triple their manufacturing cost.
- The cost of air freighting the goods is three times more than their manufacturing cost.

- The cost of air freighting the goods is three times as much as their manufacturing cost.

- The cost of air freighting the goods has seen a three fold rise relative to their manufacturing cost.

Best regards

Only the first and third ones are natural. I prefer the first one.

The link worked oddly for me.

-This meaning is completely different from the others.

Last year it cost $10 to make something and $10 to send it.
The price to manufacture it went up $2. Now it costs $12 to make it.
The price to ship it went up $6. Now it costs $16 to ship it.

The amount it costs to ship it went up 6, the amount it costs to make it went up 2 - that means there was a threefold rise relative to the manufacturing costs.
