Is 'rushed up the bus' fine?

When the bus came, the children rushed up the bus.

Is 'rushed up' correctly used in the above sentence? I wonder whether it is because it is not correct to say 'got up the bus'.

No. They can rush TO the bus (and there they wait by the door) or they can rush ONTO the bus, but not rush UP the bus.

You need a 'to' after 'rushed up' to make this sentence work. Or you could drop 'up' and put 'onto' in its place.

When the bus came, the children rushed up TO the bus.

The above sentence does not include the children getting on the bus. Am I right?
