Should I use "the" before students in the following sentence and why?

"The students/Students lacking sufficient knowledge in this field must attend the compulsory courses."

I wouldn't use the article.

When you say the article, I think you mean the one the OP asked about- the that comes before students, don’t you, please? Is the definite article that precedes compulsory courses needed, please?

"The students/Students lacking sufficient knowledge in this field must attend the compulsory courses."

When you say the article, I think you mean the one the OP asked about- the that comes before students, don’t you, please? Is the definite article that precedes compulsory courses needed, please?

If there are specific compulsory courses, the article is OK. If not, the article can be deleted.
