Did you look up "insight" in a dictionary?

Yes. Meaning, as a noun, deep and clear perception of a situation. However, people use the phrase frequently in many places, I just feel like, in general, it means getting better understanding of something?

Also, any difference between the two phrases?

Good, but with "insight" the understanding is deep. Your two phrases have about the same meaning, but "gain" is more common than "get".
