Hi,
Suppose that I go to China and I ask a Chinese person the time of their holidays.

When are your holidays?

Is the blue question OK? Do you ask like this?

That question sounds like you're asking the person about their own holidays. If you asked something like When do people have their holidays in China, you would get a more general answer. If you asked about public holidays, you would learn about the national holidays.

I guess the OP doesn't know 'their holidays' could mean 'his/her holidays'.

No, I meant Chinese national holidays.

How should I ask this?

Don't you think that we should call them "national holidays" instead of "public holidays"?

I think "public holidays" refer to the weekends just. like Saturday and Sunday when many schools and stores and offices are closed. But not sure.

Any more help?

Thanks in advance.

Then, what are national holidays?
I mean what's the difference between "public holidays" and "national holidays"?

Some countries make a distinction between religious holidays and national holidays, these being historical and political holidays. However, public holidays works for all such days.

In China, public holidays include festival holidays.
