0.5 kilogram or 0.5 kilograms?

Could you please tell me which is correct?
I'm not sure if using "a" or "one" before countable nouns is the only case we conjugate the verbs with the third person. That means "0.5 kilograms" is correct?

I would say:

Half a kilogram
OR
Nought point five kilograms

I might be missing something but I'm not sure what connection there is between "0.5 kilograms" and conjugating a verb with the third person.

I mean 0.5 is less than 1 and we say "1 kilogram" so we might say "0.5 kilogram", but it seems to be incorrect. Thank you again!

Yes, but notice that there is no verb involved here. "Kilograms" is not the third-person form of "kilogram", because "kilogram" is a noun. Nouns don't have third-person forms -- only verbs do. "Kilograms" is the plural form of "kilogram".

I would like to add that I might also use "point five of a kilo".
