or

I don`t remember what it was like being a toddler

.........................................................................

which one is correct?

First, the term "kid" is much more general than "toddler". A toddler is generally used to describe a child who has just begun to walk. "Kid" can refer to a juvenile usually under 18 years. Second, with regard to the choice between the two sentences you posted, the second would be correct.

To me, the first sentence is correct (though to be would be an improvement on being) and the second is wrong.

Well, I thought the post was a choice between the last two sentences. If true, and if BarbD and RoverKE assumed the same, I would argue that the first is not correct. On the other hand, if we are looking at three sentences, then #1 and #3 are correct. Heeeeeellllllpppp!

Ah. Let's say it this way: The one with the "as" in black is NOT correct.

How's that?

And, as you already said, substituting "toddler" for "kid" is not a logically sound substitution, but it is grammatical.

#1 means that you have no memory of how it felt when you were a child.

I suppose some may argue that "what it was like to be a kid" may be correct and "being" is not, but the original sounds fine to me and I'd say it either way.

Edited to fix my typo

They are easily understood! What do you think is wrong with the first one? (And if there is an error, it does not prohibit comprehension.)

Why not

I don't remember how it was being (to be) a child.

In addition, yes, one negation in a sentence is correct way. Thank Barb,
