I was wondering how you can easily jump to judge and then get lost of "LIKE"
!! I am studying the grammar book " Communicate what you mean " by myself and unfortunately this book don't provide learners with answer key, so I have to post my questions here

I think:
Nobody in the office knows whose car that is outside. Do you know who it belongs to?!
whose car that is outside -> is noun clause?!
!?
who it belongs to ?! -> is noun clause?
that is outside -> adj clause?!
Am I right?!

Does "that is outside" modify "car"? No.

I would use WHOM instead of WHO

a) Nobody in the office knows whose car is that is outside. Do you know whom it belongs to?

b) Nobody in the office knows whose car is that is outside. Do you know to whom it belongs?

1) Nobody in the office knows whose car [that is outside]

2) Do you know to whom it belongs?

3) Yes, it belongs to [me, you, him, her, us, them]

4) The answer tells that WHOM is the relative pronoun to be used.

5) [...] It's an adjective clause.

Many, if not most, native speakers never use the word "whom."

I haven't totally abandoned whom. (On the other hand, will somebody please tell me when I used it last?)

Also, would somebody please answer Nininaz's "why" question? (Somebody find a blackboard, please!)

I use "whom" when it is correct.
