Could someone please let me know the difference between these two sentences?

Actually I want to ask my friend if he recieved/heard about the good news of my other friend getting married, so m thinking which one would be appropriate?

1) Did you hear/receive the good news about x getting married?
2) Have you heard/recieved the good news about x getting married?

I think the second one is more appropriate as I understand did
is for the past events which are over . Here there is a possibility that if the listener has not heard about it he/she has the chance.

Thanks in advance

I think have you heard is more likely here but either is possible.

"Have you heard X's getting married?"

Forgo "the good news" since it is obvious. Unless you object to the wedding in which case you will say with a nasty tone "I CAN'T believe it. X's getting married."
