Red face In spite of, Dispite

What is the difference between "in spite of" and despite? Is this possible to use "in spite under this condition" or "despite under this condition".

    Thanks,

    Re: In spite of, Dispite

there is no difference between them. they show contrast and surprising situation. Only, "In spite" must be followed by "of" , while "despite" is not followed by "of". the key point is "of". Moreover, they must be followed by noun or verb in gerund.

for example: In spite of the bad weather, the boy went out.
despsite the bad weather, the boy went out.

I am not an english teacher but I give my explanation of what I know. As for your sentence, I dont understand what you mean by "under this condition" ?

I completely agree with Ruba Saeed - there's not difference between "in spite of" and "despite."

Talking Re: In spite of, Dispite

Thank you both Ruba and BarB,

As for "in spite under this condition", I was not sure if I could use other preposition. I should just say "despite this condition" or "in spite of this condition". I learned it as a phrase "under this condition". So that is why.

    Thanks,
