Student or Learner
Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I’m right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence from an English text?
“My overriding focus is to get my students talking English, conversing in English, speaking English and understanding spoken English.”
overriding = first in priority; more important than all others
Thank you for your efforts.
Hello, I am not a teacher, but perhaps I can help you.
For me it's all right, you have an adjective (overriding) before a noun (focus), and the meaning seem to be clear.
Have a nice day.
