Question How do I start to teach others?

    Calling all teachers,

Firstly I am not an English teacher. I have no formal qualifications other than school exam results.

I am currently living in Gibraltar, where the people are bi-lingual in English and Spanish, but will shortly be moving to a Spanish hamlet where English is almost non-existant.

I would very much like to help the locals learn English and I am looking for any information you could give me to get me started as a 'teacher'.

I am so keen to do this that I will consider any information you can give.

    Many thanks

    Andrew (aka Bluefairy)

When I lived in Japan, many people did exactly as you wish. They started conversational English groups in their home for a price per person. No degree was required, only a good understanding of the language and a place to meet. Foreigners, especially the young people, love to learn about our culture. Meet one night a week around a meal and dedicate your lesson around something interesting and fun. I hope this works for you.
