    Are these sentences correct:

    1-The last departure he remembered was that of Dorwin, to win glory for his family abroad.
    (MEANING: The last departure he remembered was that of Dorwin, who departed to win glory for his family abroad.)

    2-Now the departures were of his friends, to go and participate in deadly wars.
    (MEANING: Now the departures were of his friends, who were departing to go and participate in deadly wars.)

    3-The last move was by Kasparov, to take a pawn and threaten Karpov' bishop.
    (MEANING: The last move was by Kasparov, and by this move, a pawn was taken and Karpov's bishop came under threat.)

    No, it isn't. You'd have to write like you've written the meaning.
