    Re: linguistics and Pedagogy

Nativist theories hold that children are born with an innate propensity for language acquisition, and that this ability makes the task of learning a first language easier than it would otherwise be.
    Nativist Theory

Assimilation: (Linguistics) The process by which a sound is modified so that it becomes similar or identical to an adjacent or nearby sound. For example, the prefix in- becomes im- in impossible by assimilation to the labial p of possible.

    Re: linguistics and Pedagogy

Hmm. I'm getting old and senile. For a few hours, I thought accoustic was the correct English spelling, or most common, and felt sorry the OP had the wrong spelling. Maybe I should start drinking more green tea. What Romance language was I confusing the word with?
