    same or different?

    Dear all,

Can you look at sentences #1 and #2?

    1. Humans are as greedy, violent, compassionate, wise, or foolish as they were 400 years ago.

    2. Humans are no more greedy, violent, compassionate, wise, or foolish than they were 400 years ago.

Is there any difference in meaning between # 1 and #2?

    Thank you!

    OP

    Yes, there is a difference.
    1. says that the level of greed, etc. is the same. (It is not lower)
    2. says that the level of greed, etc. is no higher than it was. (It could be lower)
