    Re: boffy?

I'm not sure. According to the Dictionary of Obsolete and Provincial English, boffy was a verb meaning to swell, to puff (up); so, maybe boffy, as it applies to clever kids, means those with inflated egos?

I think this is a poor choice of word. If anything, it should read "boffiny". A boffin is someone who knows a lot, either about one subject or about a lot of things. Adult scientists are often called "boffins". I have never heard it used as an adjective before, but I have certainly never heard boffy at all!

In that case, if "boffy" is teenage slang, and you used "boffiny" instead, wouldn't you sound completely boffy?

Here is some definitions, obviously in a different context:
    Urban Dictionary: boffy
