    'surround' singular or plural?

    Hi gang,

I am writing a paper and I am unsure which use of the word 'surround' is correct here, the singular or plural:

"that assumes no responsibility for the realities of life that surround her."

    OR

"that assumes no responsibility for the realities of life that surrounds her."

    cheers

In this example, surround would be correct. It refers to the "realities" - plural - so it is the 3rd person plural of the verb to surround.
