    Language technique in this sentence

    "My tenderness thenceforth escaped detection."

I'm thinking the technique is called dissonance? not sure though

I don't like the sentence, but I don't see that it's technically dissonance, where the sound tends to be disagreeable to the ear.

I'm not sure I can see that any specific technique was being used in this sentence. It's a fairly old-fashioned use of language, with thenceforth, but other than that, it looks like a normal sentence.
