    switch or switched

    I would like to know which is correct from the 2 sentences as below

    1. Please ensure all the lights are switch off
    2. Please ensure all the lights are switched off

    To switch off is the verb. In this sentence, "switched off" is used as an adjective.

    However, if you were asking someone to do it, you could also say "Please ensure you SWITCH off all the lights."

    "ensure" is a transitve verb which must have an object. So the second sentece will be correct after the noun clause is joined by "that'

    'Swtch off" is a phrasal verb meaning: to start or stop (a device powered by electricity)- See Cambridge Dictionary(American English)
