    Business Letter abbreviations

    what does /so after the initials at the bottom of a business letter mean?

    Back in the old days, it was not uncommon for the secretary to type the letters, and she'd put the boss's initials in all caps and a slash and her initials after that, in lower case.

    So if James Earl Jones was the boss and Sonja Olsen was the secretary, it would have JEJ/so at the bottom.

    Could this be what you mean?
