I'm just wondering why it is on this message board you're not allowed to create your own avatar?

I have no idea what bandwith is (I'm almost computer retarded), but I was just noticing that on other message boards you can create an avatar. You can copy and paste a link into a box, and that picture will show up as your avatar. It's pretty cool. Just wondering. Not complaining.
That's how much internet space is required. Sites have to pay for memory that allows people to access sites according to usage. I'm not sure, but I think these things tend to eat up bandwidth.Red will know the truth, though.

Thank you. That was helpful. I understand if that's the reason now.
Of course, I could be wrong.![]()
Your answer sounds logical, so I'll stick with that until we get an answer from Red5.
That's exactly right; it is!Originally Posted by tdol
The main issue is that we cannot control the size of immage which will be uploaded. The larger the image, the more data needs to be transferred (bandwidth).
Anothe issue is that we have no control of the type of image being uploaded (a quick look at some forums reveals a number of porn images being used as avatars by some people).
I'll switch the function on and see what happens. If it becomes a problem, I'll simply switch it off again.

I'm not a teacher, so please consider any advice I give in that context.
Ooooh, cool.
