a great way off/ their own pace

    Dear teachers,

Would you tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expressions in bold in the following sentences?

A king and queen once upon a time reigned in a country a great way off, where there were in those days fairies.
in a country a great way off = in a remote country

The school believes in letting children learn on their own pace.
on their own pace = on their own level

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V.

in a country a great way off = far, far away
