    about

(We had mixed feelings about moving so far away.)
(Tom was excited about becoming a father.)
Had they moved yet? (probably not?)
Had he become a father or not?
    Thanks a lot.

It's hard to say without context whether or not the events really happened just by reading these sentences.

By the way, the questions should use "did": Did they move? Did he become a father?

We had mixed feelings about moving so far away, so we decided to stay here. (They didn't move away.)

We had mixed feelings about moving so far away, but now we really like this city and our new neigborhood. (They moved away.)

Tom was excited about becoming a father, and now he can see how much responsibility it is. (He became a father.)

Tom was excited about becoming a father, but his wife wants to wait another couple years before they have children. (Tom hasn't become a father yet.)
