    ever/always - replaceable?

    Hi! Can "ever" be used instead of "always", in literature language, for example? Can I say: "These men ever stand their ground."?

    No friend they are completely different.

    Have you ever tried this. ( mostly in negative context)
    You have always tried this. (mostly in positive context)

    Yes you will find it in literature, "It was ever thus" for example, meaning, "It was always like this".
