    Question Please help

    Hi,

    Please assist & explain the following sentence which is the correct choice?

    All the ladies but Mrs. Liu___________cheongsams.
    a)wear
    b)wears
    c)is wearing
    d)am wearing.

    I chose (3) is wearing, but it appeared to wrong. Why?

    Appreciate your assistance.

    it is realy wrong, it is '' all the ladies but Mr Liu "wear" cheongsams.
    the verb goes to all the ladies and not Mr Liu, the sentence means that
    all the ladies "wear" cheongsams , but Mr Liu does't wear cheongsams.

    I am not a teacher, but this is what I think ...

    Your choice is wrong for several reasons, but the main one would be (in my eyes) that you associated "is wearing" to a group of ladies where the "is" in your choice would be more suitable for a single person.
