    Smile a small question

    Hello

I have seen this sentence in my book

AMSOC was devoted to exploring ideas that might sound farfetched to other organizations but were still scientifically possible .

I just want to know why we added " ing " to the verb " explore " and I will be thankful .

To here is a preposition and prepositions take nouns and pronouns. When there is a verb form it must be a gerund form (verbal noun) which is why your example sentence has "to" in it. Be devoted to something.
    Hope this has helped.
