    The later you came, the shorter we will have a time to have a discussion.

    1. Could you proofread the sentence above?
    2. Can I say: The later you come, the less time we'll have for discussion?

    Yes, 2. is much better. The first example is non-sensical, mixing past with future. Also, "the shorter the time we will have to...." or "the shorter a time we will have..." are better for the second clause than the version given in bold.

    • The earlier you come, the more time we'll have for discussion.
