    It doesn't have to change.
Mike: I recently bought a bike
Ted: Mike said he had recently bought a bike.

    However,
Ted: Mike recently bought a bike. This could be wrong depending on the time between Mike telling Ted, and Ted speaking.
Mike bought a bike shortly before I spoke to him last. But even this is a guess unless Mike told him how recently.
    What sentence do you have?

    Thank you dear Raymott,

Actually there isn't any context for that. I wanted to make sure if there should be any change to it as I was making a list of the possible adverbs used in reported speech...Thanks a lot for your reply.
