A few sandwiches wont go far among all of us.

    Hello.

A few sandwiches wont go far among all of us.

Can this sentence be reworded into "A few sandwiches wont be enough for all of us"?
Can among be changed into "for"?

    Thank you.

Your rephrasing is fine and says all that is needed.

Anglika, thank you for your response. Is the comment only for the first question?

No, I would not use "among" in place of "for". One could analyze it as being correct in a structural way, which is what you might be doing, and this is very good. Experimenting, asking questions, and taking chances are good for making progress in learning a language.

The thing to keep in mind is the difference between "among" and "for".

for - In this case, "for" indicates that the sandwiches will be possessed and consumed by a number of people, more than two people.

among - This simply means that there are more than two people. Using "enough" makes it clear and obvious that the sandwiches are for the people to eat, but "among" doesn't do the same job - doesn't function in exactly the same way - that "for" does.

Your rewording is good - no problem.

A few sandwiches wont be enough among all of us.

Although "among" and "for" are not the same, does this sentence sound good?

To me, it sounds forced or just a little strained. It's not something I would say, and it's not something I'd expect to hear.

A few sandwiches won't be enough to share among all of us. - This is better and sounds like a more plausible sentence, but I like the sentence with "for" because it sounds more natural and more typical.
