    Post comparative and superlative adjectives

    Dear all,
    What is the opposite of the following phrase, if we must use the word (far)?
    The phrase is, the nearer than.

    Are you sure it's the nearer than? The opposite of 'nearer than', the comparative of 'far' is 'farther than'.

    The is used with superlative adjectives:
    e.g.: the nearest, the farthest.
