    Comma after dash

Is a comma ever used after a dash in English? It is in some other languages (e.g. French and German) sometimes, but I've never come across a sentence with a comma after a dash in English.

So, for example, should I add a comme after the second dash in the following sentence:

The public interest in sport is tremendous—sports events tend to draw the largest television audiences—and has transformed sport into a generator of vast revenue.

    Thanks.

    Re: Comma after dash

No, not in English. For us a dash IS a comma, a sort of quick, short pause.
