is vs are for a language? (e.g. English is)

    Hello everyone,

What do we use after a specific language, is or are?

For example, when i want to say "The english of this paper is poor" or "Your english is good" do i use is or are?

My feeling would be for is, but i am not entirely sure. Note, i am asking about the word english when it is used as a spoken or written language

    Thank you in advance

Is "English are" wrong or is "English is" just preferable?

English "are" is just wrong, except in Swedish.
