    left unchecked

Should I add "left" before "unchecked," or is the sentence ok as it is?

An increasingly economic approach to sport is taking shape, and if unchecked will likely lead to a wider departure from the traditional features of European sport.

    Thanks.

It seems OK without "left." Would you consider trading "economic" for "commercial"?

    Re: left unchecked

    Hello.

Here's an example of "left unchecked."

    ???????? - ???????
Obama said if the Taliban insurgency is left unchecked, al Qaeda will have a bigger sanctuary, where they can plot to kill more Americans.
